Ground Chicken is a preparation of minced chicken, sold raw and needing cooking. It is used as an ingredient.

The chicken meat used may be white, dark, or a mixture of both. Skin may also be included.

You can make your own Ground Chicken at home, particularly if you buy boneless chicken cuts such as breasts or boned thighs. Cut into 1 inch (2 1/2 cm) cubes and whiz through the food processor or grinder. This is even easier to do if the meat is partially frozen. In a food processor, use the blade that goes into the bottom, and pulse until minced.

Ground chicken organ meat is liver, gizzards, and hearts.Being in general lower in fat than ground beef, Ground Chicken can tend to stew in its juices and form clumps, rather than crisp, so stir it around while cooking to break up clumps. When cooked, it turns a white color which not unappealing, isn't exciting: coloring from other ingredients in your recipe can help, e.g. tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, etc. As well, the taste can be bland, so the cooked mixture needs herbs and spices to help it along.
Most of the fat in chicken is in the dark meat. Thus, the lighter the color of the Ground Chicken, the lower the fat. This also means, though, that it will dry out on you all that faster once the juices have evaporated off. And remember, it must be cooked beyond that usually to ensure for safety reasons that the chicken is thoroughly cooked to well done. This brings you to the ironic point of having to add fat, despite probably having paid more to get a lower-fat version of Ground Chicken.

To compensate, while it is cooking you can simply give up and add oil, or try grated zucchini or carrot for added moisture. Some people suggest trying an egg yolk, or a few tablespoons of cottage cheese per pound (450g) of Ground Chicken. Remember, though, that cooked properly, the fat will render off, anyway, so trying to avoid dark meat in your Ground Chicken may not be worth the extra money and futzing to start with.Everyone in North America uses the terms Ground Beef / Ground Hamburger / Hamburger interchangeably, and that is completely fine as far as the lingo at home goes. For producers, in the US at least, there is a legal difference they must adhere to: any fat in Ground Beef must be the fat already adhering to the meat content they are adding; for ground hamburger, additional beef fat other than what was on those pieces of meat can be added.

Ground chicken isn't evil in itself; it doesn't want to harbor all the nastiest in it such as E. coli, Salmonella, and Listeria. The thing is, because the beef is ground up, it has way more surface area than a single hunk of meat would, by a factor of, say, 10 quadrillion. Combine this increased surface area with the extra handling and equipment that the Ground chicken has had to go through, and the Ground chicken gets lots more chances to pick up something, and there you go. The E. coli may already be in the cow (in its intestines), but we humans have lots of chances to add to the potent cocktail through our handling of it.

The bottom line is that unlike other beef, which you can cook to rare, Ground chicken must have no pink inside when cooked. Colour alone, though, isn't an indication of safety: sometimes hamburger can appear browned before it is safe to eat. It must reach an internal temperature of 160 F (71 C.) If you're nervous about this, get an instant-read meat thermometer, which costs less than a double-tall latte at Starbucks

Ground chicken is a mixture of finely and coarsely ground animal bones and slaughter-house waste products. It is used as an organic fertilizer for plants and as a nutritional supplement for animals. As a slow-release fertilizer, bone meal is primarily used as a source of phosphorus and protein. Finely ground bone meal may provide a quicker release of nutrients than the coarser ground version of bone meal.Legally, in the United States, for something to be classified as a fertilizer, it has to be a soil amendment that guarantees the minimum percentages of nutrients, primarily nitrogen, phosphorus, and potash. For a fertilizer to be considered "organic," it has to be derived from natural sources.Bone meal once was often used as a human dietary calcium supplement. Research in the 1980s found that many bone meal preparations were contaminated with lead and other toxic metals, and is no longer recommended as a calcium source.Bone meal, along with a variety of other meals, especially meat meal, is used as a dietary/mineral supplement for livestock. It is used to feed mono gastric animals with bone meal from ruminants, and vice verse, to prevent the spread of bovine sponginess encephalitic (BSE) or "mad cow disease".
Proper heat control can reduce BSE and salmonella contaminants. In the 1980s, bone meal was identified as a vector for bovine sponginess encephalitic (BASE, or "mad cow disease") among livestock. Bone meal produced in the 1970s from the corpses of sheep bearing scrapie may have caused BSE in cattle when it was fed to them, but the pathogen very rarely crosses species, so it is more likely to have spread from cattle bone meal. The type of processing can determine if the infectious agent would be passed on.
